RAMONA PAULK

Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident Ramona Paulk, 74, died Oct. 5, 2005, surrounded by her family in Soldotna.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Eagle's Aerie No. 35255, 5765 Kenai Spur Hwy., Kenai. The family would like to invite everyone to share memories, food and fellowship at this time.

Mrs. Paulk was born in Chicago in 1931. She moved to Alaska with her family at the age of 4 by steamship and rail as part of the Palmer Colonization Project in 1935. She and her late husband, Jake Paulk, homesteaded in Knik in 1948 and moved to their home on the Kenai River in 1960.

Her family wrote, &#8221Ramona's life served as an inspiration and foundation to all who knew her. She was filled with wit and wisdom and lived her life on her own terms.

&#8221Her well-loved home on the river was, and will remain, her family's gathering place and refuge.

&#8221She loved her gardens, feeding her birds, but most of all she loved her family and friends and the untold hours she spent enjoying their conversation and laughter.

&#8221Her legacy isn't in riches or accomplishments, but in the people she loved and their depth of love and devotion to her. This will echo through the generations. Everyone she touched is a part of this legacy.“
