ANCHORAGE — The Susitna Valley Rams will have to settle for a battle for fourth.
Petersburg opened with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-14) win over the Rams during the first round of the ASAA/First National Bank 2A State Volleyball Championships Thursday at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
With the loss, Susitna Valley, the Borealis Conference runner-up, will meet Tok Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the consolationa semifinals at Dimond High.
Tok, the Aurora Conference champion, suffered a 3-0 (25-4, 25-15, 25-14) loss to Dillingham in the first round.
With a win over Tok, Su Valley would move into teh fourth-place match.
Su Valley, the 2013 2A state champion, qualified for state for the fourth straight season. The Rams also finished fourth in 2012 and tied for seventh last season.
