TALKEETNA — Susitna Valley freshman enjoyed her second strong performance in less than a week by placing second in the Susitna Valley Invitational girls race in Talkeetna on Saturday.
Stevenson posted a time of 20 minutes and 16.67 seconds in the 5-kilometer race hosted by the Rams. Stevenson finished about a minute behind Kailey Wilson of Kenny Lake.
On Wednesday, Stevenson finished second in the Mat-Su Borough Championships at Crevasse Moraine in Palmer.
Stevenson’s teammate, Su Valley’s Missy Scott, finished fifth for the Rams in the race, recording a time of 20:50.
Kassandra Morris led the Hawks with a 10th-place finish.
ACS won the lone squad with a complete girls team and finished first in the overall standings.
Houston finished second in the boys’ team standings.
The Hawks, led by Travis Peterson’s ninth-place finish, scored 63 total points.
Peterson (18:03) was one of two Valley runners to finish in the top 10. Su Valley’s Bill Kelly finished 10th with a time of 18:20.

Colony freshman fourth at Chugiak 5-K
CHUGIAK — Colony freshman Alyssa Hutchins followed her win in the Mat-Su Borough Championships with a fourth-place finish in a 5-kilometer race hosted by Chugiak High School on Friday.
Hutchins, who finished with a time of 20 minutes and 10 seconds, was one of three Knights to place in the top-10. Sydney Stewart (20:27) was sixth and Maria Wick (20:34) was ninth.
Hutchins was the Mat-Su Borough Championships at Crevasse Moraine in Palmer on Wednesday.
Wasilla also competed in the event, and Alison Kelley finished in 17th to lead the Warrior girls.
Kelley posted a time of 21:02.
Wasilla’s Rachel Kennedy (19th, 21:03) and Brooke Nelson (20th, 21:09) also finished in the top-20.
A trio of Colony Knights finished in the top-10 of the boys race.
Steven Sinnett, first Valley runner to cross the finish line, posted a time of 17:11. Schyler Knopp (17:16) was eighth and Tanner Enloe (17:17) was ninth.
Drew Ford led Wasilla with a time of 17:18 and an 11th-place finish.
