To the editor:
The recent recall petition against Assemblyman Warren Keogh was totally without merit. I am very pleased that the Mat-Su Borough clerk denied it.
I have known Warren for many years. He is a conscientious, fair and responsible person who takes his job seriously. In his first year of office he has demonstrated hard work and attentiveness, having attended in person bi-monthly assembly meetings and other special meetings. He is always well prepared and researches issues carefully. Keogh regularly attends community council meetings all over his district, which stretches from Lake Louise to the Butte. He listens to everyone, no matter what their point of view.
We voted for Warren for the qualities of character he demonstrates, and he has lived up to our expectations. Sometimes it seems that the folk who are most strident in defending the democratic process are the most willing to disparage the result of a vote when it doesn’t go their way. This sort of unfounded badgering is common these days, and in this case particularly outrageous.
Thank you, Warren, for your dedication to your responsibilities, in the face of such harassment. We appreciate it.
