PALMER — The public is invited to a reception in honor of Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, M.D., a family physician with Providence Medical Group Mat-Su primary care who has served the Valley for 29 years, at 6 p.m., Jan. 7 at 2250 S. Woodworth Loop, Palmer.
Dr. Baldwin-Johnson, the first female physician in Wasilla, opened the first clinic to provide obstetric care in Wasilla in 1985. The practice gradually grew to include family physicians, pediatricians and allied health providers.
Providence Medical Group Alaska is closing its Mat-Su primary care location, formerly known as Providence Matanuska Health Care, on Dec. 31.
And although Dr. Baldwin-Johnson will no longer work as a family practice physician, she will continue her work with The Children’s Place, the child advocacy center in the Valley, and Alaska CARES, the child advocacy center in Anchorage.
The reception includes light refreshments. Anyone who would like to write a memory of the care they have received from Dr. Baldwin-Johnson may do so at the reception or send it by mail to the clinic.
