SU VALLEY — A Red Cross shelter in Willow remains open for people displaced by flooding in the area.
Three other Red Cross shelters that opened last week in the Matanuska and Susitna Valleys — at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center, the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer and the Upper Susitna Senior Center — are now closed.
The Willow Community Center remains open. It began functioning as a Red Cross shelter opened around 8 p.m., Wednesday in response to evacuations and flooding. Contact the shelter at 232-2698.
If your home has been affected by the recent storms and you need immediate assistance, call (907) 646-5401 or (888) 345-4376.
Red Cross of Alaska urges Alaskans to use this opportunity to update emergency kits and family emergency plans. For information and tips, visit redcross.org/prepare.
