Redington freshman wins region title

WASILLA — It took on Redington wrestler only one season to find himself on the top of the Kachemak Conference podium.

Redington freshman Charles Severance won the 130-pound weight class during the Kachemak Conference Championships Dec. 8 at Grace Christian School in Anchorage. Severance beat Anchorage Christian School junior Matt Bohlman 3-0 in the final round. Severance was also one of four Huskies to advance to the finals. Boston Postishek (119), James Paris (125) and Gavin Metcalf (140) also wrestled in the finals and placed second.

Dakota Bolduc led Houston with a fourth-place finish at 135.

Redington placed fourth in the team standings with 173 total points. Houston was eighth.

Junior leads Rams

Dalton Pinard led the Susitna Valley Rams with a second-place finish in the Denali Conference Championships. Pinard finished second at 171.
