WASILLA — Lexi Seymour helped the Redington Huskies grab a third-place finish in the Husky shootout Saturday in Kotzebue.
Seymour used a layup at the buzzer to give the Huskies a 33-31 win over Noorvik. Seymour scored 10 points in the victory. Abbie Fuller, who was named to the all-tournament team, led Redington with 11.
Rivals separated by only a few miles in the Mat-Su met above the Arctic Circle Friday.
Fuller used 23 points to lead Redington to a 30-26 girls’ basketball victory over Houston during the second day of the tournament. Fuller finished with 10 of Redington’s 12 field goals in the victory.
Katie Richey led Houston with nine points.
Warriors fall in third OT
West needed triple-overtime to score a 63-60 boys’ basketball win over defending state champion Wasilla Saturday in Anchorage.
Daniel Headdings scored 20 points in the loss, including 13 of Wasilla’s 16 first-quarter points. Luke Devine added 15.
West beat Wasilla 47-32 in girls’ action. Bella Hays led Wasilla with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Stars sweep Moose
Soldotna used a huge fourth quarter to post a Northern Lights Conference boys basketball victory over Palmer Saturday in Palmer.
The Stars outscored Palmer 18-3 in the 47-43 win. Ronny Marshall led Palmer with a dozen points. Lavar Marshall added 11.
The SoHi girls beat Palmer 65-26. Ellyse Russell led Palmer with eight.
