WASILLA— Redington Junior/Senior High School’s class of 2022 celebrated a live graduation ceremony inside the Menard Sports Center Wednesday, May 18.
Redington principal Tom Lytle said that he was very proud of the graduating class. He marveled at each student’s story and how they made it to this point.
“Now, it’s your time to fly,” Lytle said.
2022 graduate and Master of Ceremonies Delaney Reaves commended her fellow graduates for making it this far.
“You made it. Through determination, effort, and sometimes pure luck, you made it. I couldn’t be prouder to graduate with anyone else or any other school,” Reaves said. “We, the class of 2022 promise to do great things.”
Salutatorian Donnie Arnone said the last four years of high school went by like a flash. He said the top thing he’s going to miss is the people. He said that he had a lot of positive memories in spite of the whole ordeal feeling like a blur due to COVID-19.
“I will miss the experience of being with everyone,” Arnone said. “That’s a lot of time to spend with people, and over those four years, we’ve really become a family with all the great memories we’ve made… We’ve learned how to live, how to laugh, and how to love. And, for the future students of Redington, I hope you find your family here and make memories that will last a lifetime.”
