Redoubt blows again; Su Valley may get ash

Mount Redoubt erupted today at 8:40 a.m., according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory. The ash cloud was reported to reach 50,000 feet. There is an ashfall advisory for the area south and west of Talkeetna through 3 p.m. today. Ashfall is expected to be less than one-eighth of an inch. The Mat-Su Valley and Anchorage Bowl may receive trace or less amounts of ash. Flights to and from Anchorage have been effected. Updates will be posted as conditions change.
