Registration deadline extended for State of Alaska, FEMA Individual Assistance

WASILLA — The deadline for State and Federal Individual Assistance registration for residents in the communities affected by Typhoon Merbok in September has been extended.

The new deadline is Dec. 6, according to a recent press release that indicated that the Governor’s declaration activated the state’s Individual Assistance program and the following Federal declaration activated similar FEMA programs. These are programs are designed to support individuals and families with damages and/or expenses related to the disaster.

Eligible candidates for State Individual Assistance.include residents of the Northwest Arctic Borough, Bering Strait Regional Education Attendance Area (REAA), Lower Yukon REAA, Lower Kuskokwim REAA, and the Kashunamiut REAA.

Applicants can register online by visiting the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management webpage. Those wishing to apply telephonically can call the Disaster Assistance Hotline at 1-844-445-7131. For more information, visit Ready.Alaska.Gov.
