WASILLA — Mat-Su Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a couple of very determined criminals.
Crime Stoppers is highlighting two cases from this summer. The first happened May 17 on Fairview Loop. According to the press release, someone apparently cleaned out a shop, making off with $2,500 worth of equipment, including:
• Two 50-foot welding leads.
• A Victor Model 100 torch on a torch cart made from a shopping cart.
• An oxygen bottle with a regulator.
• A 3/4-inch Ingersoll air wrench.
• A Spline air-drive wrench.
• A gray hand tray with miscellaneous tools.
• A large Chicago vice.
• Large bolt cutters.
• A Handyman jack.
The second case the organization highlighted was reported June 3 at Mile 10.6, Knik-Goose Bay Road.
Sometime in the early morning hours, someone hooked a chain around a security gate and pulled it down, dragging it down the road for a mile. The press release estimates damages at $3,000.
Tipsters can remain anonymous and should call 745-3333 or visit matsu-crimestoppers.org. The tip could yield up to $1,000 in reward money.
Crime Stoppers also pays for information leading to an arrest in other felony crimes or the arrest of felony fugitives or drug dealers.
