RICHARD M. JONES

Richard M. Jones died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, in Anacortes, Wash., from complications due to pneumonia.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes, Wash.

He was born June 21, 1918, to Lucias and Minnie Jones, in Lynden, Wash. He attended grade and high school in Lynden, graduating in 1936. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945 and worked at Peoples State Bank in Lynden from 1938 to 1952. He was executive vice president of Matanuska Valley Bank until his retirement in 1972.

He was a member of the United Protestant Church, Elks Lodge 1842 and American Legion Post 15, all of Palmer, and the past president of the board of the Palmer Independent School District.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Gladys Hamilton Jones. He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Don and Claudianne Jones of Palmer, Brian and Karen Jones of Spokane, Wash., and Anne and Ron Brown of Birch Bay, Wash.; stepdaughter, Pam Lowman of Kingman, Ariz.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jones is also survived by his sisters, Flora Cole and Edith Nields of Seattle, and Irene Hoffman of Silver Springs, Md., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Remembrances may be made in support of our U.S. troops. Arrangements were in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes.
