The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT) have announced a road closure this weekend affecting drivers using the Bogard & Trunk Road Roundabout.
The closure will take effect Friday, August 8 starting at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, August 11 at 5:00 a.m.
The closure is needed as crews will be paving the roundabout as part of the Bogard Road Pavement Preservation Project. The purpose of this project, which includes resurfacing Bogard Road between Trunk Road and Main Street in Wasilla, is to protect the material under the road, extending its life and delaying the need for more extensive repairs in the future.
DOT is warning drivers to be expect longer travel times, and asks all drivers to follow approved detours, and extend consideration to the people who live near the construction area by staying on the official detour routes.
The closure of the Bogard Road and Trunk Road roundabout is for vehicles; it will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles.
