As the snow melts and the days inch closer to warmer weather, so too will drivers see the arrival of orange traffic cones and road crews, marking the beginning of road construction season.
Construction has already begun in some areas, including Glenn Highway milepost 34-42, covering the Parks Highway interchange to the Old Glenn Highway.
Residents and commuters are advised to be aware of trucks entering and exiting the Glenn Highway between Old Matanuska Road near milepost 34.7 to south of Kepler Lake near milepost 35.3.
In a press release from R&M Consultants, drivers are advised to be aware of lane shifts from the exiting Glenn Highway to the newly constructed roadway alignment and on paved temporary lanes at various locations throughout the length of the project.
There will also be construction on Jimmy Drive, Grandview Avenue, Brady Lake Avenue, East Matanuska Spur Road, along with other pathways during construction season.
Expect traffic to be maintained with a two lane-two way configuration as sections are paved throughout the summer. Speed limits will also be reduced to 45 miles per hour.
