Road spending by legislators absurd

To the editor,

Despite a massive state budget deficit, Valley representatives Mark Neuman and Lynn Gattis just voted to spend $18 million on a new road into the U-Med district in Anchorage. What's absurd about their action is that the city of Anchorage does not want the road, nor do the citizens in the affected area. This incredible fiscal irresponsibility is exactly the type of legislative behavior that put our state so far into the red. While our seniors and schools take cuts, Reps. Neuman and Gattis help ensure boondoggle projects move forward. Thanks for watching out for the people of Alaska!
