WASILLA — The Alaska Road Warriors prepared for the upcoming Todd Ryan Memorial with an 11-1, five-innings win over the Chugiak Mustangs Monday night at McManus Field in Wasilla.
Jonathon Boyer tossed a complete game and earned the win for the Wasilla-based American Legion baseball squad. The Road Warriors offense scored five wins in the first inning to help Boyer’s cause.
The Mustangs and Road Warriors are two of the six teams slated to compete in the Todd Ryan Memorial, which starts Thursday at McManus Field. The four-day, six-team event will also feature Service, Eagle River and a pair of Outside teams.
Squads from Las Vegas and Napoleon, Ohio, are also making the trip to Alaska for the tournament.
Action starts Thursday with Service and Chugiak at 4 p.m. The host Road Warriors face Eagle River at 7 p.m.
The tourney continues with the Warriors meeting Napoleon Friday at 1 p.m.
