PALMER — Sam Loyer pitched a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Wasilla Road Warriors to a 15-0 American Legion baseball win over the Palmer Pioneers Thursday evening in Palmer.
Loyer fanned three hitters and walked only one in the win. At the plate, Loyer was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Nolan Monoghan finished 4 for 5, with two runs and four driven in. Ben Ross homered in the game, and collected three hits, two runs and three RBI.
Road Warriors sweep doubleheader
FAIRBANKS — Tyler Boensch pitched Wasilla out of a late bases loaded jam, and helped the Road Warriors grab a 4-2 win over Fairbanks Post 30 in Fairbanks Saturday afternoon.
Boensch entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs. The Road Warriors reliever struck out the side to end the inning. Boensch finished with eight strikeouts.
Ben Ross led the Road Warriors with two hits and an RBI. Mitchell Chauvin added a hit, run and RBI. Dalton McHugill also drove in a run.
The win was part of a doubleheader swept by Wasilla. The Road Warriors followed with a 14-2 win over Fairbanks.
Ross earned the win on the mound.
At the plate, Ross hit a home run and drove in two. Boensch, Chauvin and Loyer scored two runs each.
