FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Road Warriors posted a 10-7 win over the Fairbanks 49ers during the Midnight Sun Tournament at Arco Field in Fairbanks on Saturday.
Chris Breck pitched six strong innings to lead the Wasilla-based American Legion team to a victory that also counts toward the team’s conference record, Road Warriors skipper Steve Mossburgh said from Fairbanks on Saturday.
“Breck pitched a really good game,” Mossburgh said.
Breck, a recent graduate of Colony High School fanned four Fairbanks hitters during the win. Reliever Kody Ziter, a former teammate of Breck’s at Colony High, pitched three innings of solid relief.
Alaska collected nine hits in the game, but left 11 runners on base.
“That’s been killing us,” Mossburgh said. “We’ve been leaving a lot of runners on base.”
The Road Warriors continue play in the tourney, facing Dimond and Fairbanks today.
