WASILLA — Matt Palmer’s speed around the base paths helped the Alaska Road Warriors open the American Legion season with a quick win over West Anchorage in Anchorage on Monday.
Palmer stole five bases and scored a pair of runs to help the Wasilla-based Legion club earn an 11-1 win over West. Blake Marks, Ben Ross and Jeffrey Forster also scored two runs each. Ross was 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple. Sam Loyer earned the win on the mound for the Warriors, allowing only two hits and a run. The Road Warriors continue their season against Dimond tonight in Anchorage.
