Road Warriors, Pioneers fall in Anchorage

WASILLA —Wasilla rallied, but South Anchorage used five runs during the final two innings to grab a 10-4 win over the Road Warriors Wednesday evening in Anchorage.

Wasilla scored three times in the fifth to cut South’s lead to 5-4, but the Wolverines managed to tack on two in the fifth and three in the sixth to hand the Warriors their first loss of the summer. Nolan Murphy led Wasilla (2-1) with a pair of RBI. Jacob Gilbert added a hit and two runs. Five different Warriors scored a run.

South jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first.

Dimond needed a big inning late to get past Palmer, and score a 9-5 win over the Pioneers. The Lynx and Pioneers were scored at 1, but Dimond scored five in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead. The Lynx added three in the following inning. Palmer answered with four in the seventh, but the rally was cut short.

James Nelson led Palmer with two hits and two RBI. Alasdair McKechnie added a hit and two RBI. Five different Pioneers scored a run.
