Road Warriors remain undefeated

WASILLA — The Alaska Road Warriors used a pair of weekend American Legion wins to remain undefeated.

The Wasilla-based program improved to 5-0 with a 15-1 win over the Bartlett Golden Bears Sunday afternoon at McManus Field in Wasilla. Sammy Reed led the Warriors, finishing 3 for 3 with two runs and 4 RBI. Ben Werner added a pair of hits, and drove in three runs. Taylon Ottinger also had two hits. Ottinger and Nolan Monaghan scored three runs each.

Alaska posted five runs in both the first and fourth innings.

The victory followed Alaska’s 11-1 win over Palmer Saturday in Wasilla.

Matt Palmer finished with five RBI to lead the Road Warriors. He had three hits in the game. Monaghan and Jeffrey Forster finished with two RBI each. Monaghan, Werner and Sam Loyer scored three runs each.

Dylan Buzby scored Palmer’s lone run. Kolten Ketchum recorded the RBI for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers were slated to host Delta in a doubleheader on Sunday, but those games were moved to July.

The Road Warriors (5-0) are in a third-place tie with Dimond in the Alaska Legion Baseball American Division.
