WASILLA — It may not have been the prettiest, but the Wasilla Road Warriors found a way to post another win Sunday afternoon.

Wasilla broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and held on to score a 6-4 American Legion win over East Anchorage Saturday at McManus Field in Wasilla.

Ben Ross allowed three hits over five innings of work, and Tyler Boensch earned the two-inning save to help Wasilla improve to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in league play.

Two of East’s four runs were unearned.

Jacob Butcher and Dalton McHugill led the Warriors with two hits and a run scored each. Matt Palmer added a hit, two runs and an RBI.

WASILLA — The Wasilla Road Warriors scored a lopsided victory in the first game of the Valley’s newest baseball rivalry.

Wasilla beat the Palmer Pioneers 15-1 at McManus Field on Friday.

Palmer, one of Alaska American Legion’s four expansion teams this summer, dropped to 0-7 with the loss.

Josh Boyer pitched a one-hitter en route to lead the Warriors to the win. Palmer’s lone run was unearned.

Matt Palmer finished 2 for 2, with a double and two runs in the win. Tyler Hansen was 2 for 2 with three RBI and two runs scored. Ben Ross finished with a hit, two runs and an RBI. Boyer added a hit and two RBI.
