CHUGIAK — Chris Breck pitched an eight-inning complete game to lead the Alaska Road Warriors to a 12-3 win over the East Anchorage Thunderbirds during American Legion action at Oberg Field in Chugiak on Sunday.
The game, a makeup for a rain out earlier this season, had been slated to be played at Alaska’s home park, McManus Field in Wasillla, but was moved to Chugiak last week.
Former Palmer High School standouts Mike Dotson and Cole Smith each recorded multiple hits to lead the Alaska offense.
Alaska head coach Steve Mossburgh said the play of his team’s defense also stood out.
“The defense played excellent,” Mossburgh said. “We made only one error, and that didn’t hurt us.”
Alaska will face Eagle River today at McManus Field at 6:30 p.m. This contest is also a makeup game. The Road Warriors also have to fit in a doubleheader against West Anchorage that was rained out on Saturday.
Mossburgh hoped that decision would be made by Tuesday.
