Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Anchorage resident Robert Lee Siekawitch died from apparent heart failure while camping near Long Lake, Mile 85.5 Glenn Highway, on July 14, 2003.
At his request no funeral services are scheduled.
Mr. Siekawitch was born March 18, 1938, in Yakima, Wash. He attended Davis High School in Yakima.
He came to Alaska in 1963 residing in the Anchorage area. His work as a commercial and residential construction worker took him throughout the state. He was a member of the local carpenters union and retired due to a disability.
He was a member of the American Legion Post, Sons of the American Legion, and a member of the Alaska Shrine Temple.
His hobbies and special interest included camping, fishing, shuffleboard and reading westerns and mystery novels.
Family members said, "He will be missed by family and friends."
Mr. Siekawitch was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Siekawitch and sister, Bernadine Durand.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert and Joni Siekawitch of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Thomas L. Siekawitch of Wrangell, Daniel S. and Leigh Ann of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Plucker of Anchorage; mother, Anna Siekawitch of Yakima, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Patty Siekawitch of Boise, Idaho; sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Dale Vaughn; five grandchildren, Teagan and Kaylea Siekawitch, Kenneth, Alyssa and Kristan Plucker, all of Anchorage; and other family and friends throughout Alaska and the lower 48 states.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Wasilla.
