Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Robert Nicholas "Nick" Fenton, 56, passed away Dec. 2, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage from complications of injuries due to a car accident.
Mr. Fenton was born Oct. 1, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif. He moved to Alaska in 1990 and was a Palmer resident. He received a bachelor of arts degree and completed teaching certification in both California and Alaska. He was an elementary school teacher in several Bush villages for 10 years and retired from the state of Alaska.
His family said, "Nick was a caring, funny individual who loved the outdoors, traveling, Alaska and spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and father, and will be missed."
Mr. Fenton is survived by his wife, Shannon, of Palmer; daughters Nicole Fenton and Carly Fenton of Palmer; mother and father, Argena and Bob Fenton of Fresno, Calif.; sisters Kris Fenton of Clovis, Calif., Kathy Brennan and husband, Terry Brennan, of Fresno, Calif.; mother-in-law Joyce Schaeffer of Olympia, Wash.; brother-in-law John Brickell of Olympia, Wash.; and sisters-in-law Nancy Brickell of Olympia, Wash., and Carole Boylan of Loyalton, Calif.
A memorial is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at the family home in Palmer.
Arrangements were made by Evergreen Memorial Chapels.
