Robert Wayne Snider II passed away on August 8, 2023 at the family’s homestead in Wasilla, Alaska. He was born on March 2, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska to Robert Wayne Snider and Grace Jane Tolson-Elkins. He grew up with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters in Anchorage and at their homestead in Wasilla. He graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1971. He married Joyce Belden on December 10, 1977 and they had 4 children.
He was a talented master of all trades, having worked as a carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union for many years, and was a mason, wood and leather craftsman. He built their family home on their homestead in Wasilla. He loved Alaska and the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, berry picking, canning jelly, smoking salmon, snow machining and cabin trips to Denali with family and friends.
He lived life to the fullest and didn’t let anything stop him. He was a very loving, caring, kind and tender hearted man. He loved his family and friends deeply, more than anything, and enjoyed spending time with them. He had a very witty sense of humor and loved telling stories about all of his wild Alaskan adventures. He was a man of faith, and he loved the Lord and was saved.
He is survived by his 4 children, Robert Wayne (Somer) Snider III, Thad (Alexandra) Snider, Annette (Justin) Born, Crystal Snider, 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and his 3 sisters, Verlyn Jennings, Sherri Skidmore and Jan Schmiege. He was preceded by his parents Robert Wayne Snider and Grace Jane Tolson-Elkins, and brothers Alvin Williams and Bun Snider. The mother of their children, Joyce Belden-Rank, passed away just days after him on August 13, 2023. He never stopped loving her and always said “until death do us part.” He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. His celebration of life was held at the family’s homestead in Wasilla on August 17, 2023.
