Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Roger Emil Jorgensen, 39, died Nov. 24, 2003, as a result of an auto-pedestrian accident.
Mr. Jorgensen was born to Albert and Myrtle Jorgensen, in Juneau. He was the middle child with an older brother, Albert, and a younger sister, Kamilla. The family moved to the Matanuska Valley in the early 1970s.
Mr. Jorgensen, an Alaska resident for 25 years, graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982. He was a construction worker as well as a commercial fisherman for many years. He moved to Florence, Ore., to be near better employment and a warmer climate. He lived on his boat just off the coast of Florence. He enjoyed kayaking, hanging out with friends, and life in the great outdoors.
He is survived by his parents Albert and Myrtle Jorgensen of Wasilla, his older brother Albert Jorgensen, sister-in-law Evie, niece Jamie Duncan, grandniece Emily, sister Kamilla Diamond, brother-in-law Ernest, nieces and nephew Angela, Richard III, and Sondra Powell.
A memorial service will be held at Burns Riverside Chapel on Dec. 12 at 3 p.m.
