Jim Rogers and Shelley Larson, together with their children, Parker and Gwyneth Rogers and Eli Ickes, united families in an adventure of love and joy April 1 at the Palmer Train Depot.
Parker and Eli were groomsmen, with best man James Griffith. The bride’s attendants included lifetime friends Kelley Davis and Susan Wood. Flower girl Gwyneth Rogers was beautiful in a dress hand-beaded by her grandmother, Rhonda Rogers.
Shelley’s father, Harold Larson, walked her down the aisle as her son, Eli Ickes, played “Hornpipe from The Water Music” on trumpet, with longtime friend Denise Caldwell accompanying on piano. Denise also officiated the wedding ceremony, commencing a marriage that is a safe haven, a source of warmth and comfort, not only for the couple, but also for their children, family and friends. The lighting of the family union candle was serenaded by Susan Wood singing “Yours, Mine and Ours.”
The couple exchanged custom rings with gold nuggets from Gold Creek. Jim toasted Shelley, singing “She’s Everything” at the reception, hosted by A.P.E. Entertainment and captured by Ambience Photography.
Jim is the son of Jim Sr. and Rhonda Rogers of Ketchikan. Jim, a former U.S. Army sergeant, works at Napa in Palmer. Shelley, daughter of Harold and Linda Larson, and Elaine Bradford, is from Gold Creek. She graduated from Susitna Valley High, and has a bachelor of science from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is a registered nurse at Alaska Native Medical Center.
Jim and Shelley met while chaperoning their sons’ fifth-grade field trip. They enjoy taking their children camping, fishing, biking and hiking. The couple enjoys road trips on Jim’s Harley, karaoke and working on their home. Jim and Shelley thoroughly enjoyed a Hawaiian honeymoon. The Rogers family would like to express its sincere gratitude to all its friends and family who made the wedding memorable.
