TALKEETNA — A 68-year-old Palmer man died Tuesday afternoon after losing control of his vehicle on a wet Parks Highway.
Bernard Olkham sustained major head injuries and died at the scene of the accident near Mile 94 of the Parks Highway, an Alaska State Troopers report says. Olkham apparently lost control of his 1991 Ford pickup and rolled it while passing another car on the wet roadway. He was wearing a seat belt, but his injuries were too severe to survive.
Troopers continue to investigate the accident and the medical examiner was notified, but declined to perform an autopsy on Olkham, troopers report. His vehicle was impounded.
