Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Ronald H. Dayton, 66, died at his home June 16, 2004, at his home in Wasilla. A celebration of his life will be held at the Wasilla family home, 3180 Palmdale Drive, on June 27 at 2 p.m.
Mr. Dayton was born May 19, 1938, in Lansing Mich.
He was a high school graduate in 1956 from Jackson High School, Jackson, Mich. He also attended some trade schools.
Mr. Dayton retired from Enstar Natural Gas Co. in 1997, after 21 years of service.
His interests included hunting, fishing, shooting, drag racing, flying, dogs and reading. He was a lifetime endowment member of the National Rifle Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the National Hot Rod Association. Mr. Dayton was also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union No. 367.
His family said, "Ron was the most comfortable when he was flying is Cub, he was among the best bush pilots that Alaska has ever seen."
Mr. Dayton was preceded in death by his father, Hollis Dayton; mother, Mary Dayton; and brother, D.R. (Dick) Dayton.
Mr. Dayton is survived by his sister, Sharon McIntyre, of Jackson; nephews, Kevin Dayton of Wasilla and Matthew McIntyre of Jackson; niece, Susan McIntyre, of Tampa, Fla.; great-nephew, Jacob McIntyre, of Jackson; sister-in-law, Mary Dayton, of Eagle River; and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mat-Su, 3051 E. Palmer-Wasilla Highway, Wasilla, AK 99654.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
