Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ronald L. Bouwens passed away March 18, 2005, in Boise, Idaho. He was 74 years old.
He was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Rhinelander, Wis. He came to Alaska in 1935 with his father and mother, William and Lulubelle, as well as five sisters and five brothers.
After graduating from Palmer High School in 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years.
He returned to the Valley and was employed by C.H. Miers Transfer before going to work for Standard Oil Co. in Anchorage. In 1970, he moved to Boise, where he lived until passing away after a short battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; stepchildren, Debbie and Greg; many nieces and nephews and brothers, Wayne of Palmer and Jim of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and five sisters and three brothers. A veteran's service was held in Boise, Idaho.
