Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

73, hunter, fisherman, "Cowboy" and woodworking artist of Willow, Alaska passed away on March 2, 2019, at home surrounded by his family.
Ron was born on January 9, 1946. He married Nancy Knapp on November 18, 1967 in Cape Vincent, NY. They were married 51 years. Together they achieved his Alaskan dream. Ron chose to move to and remain in Alaska to enjoy the unrestricted freedoms that Alaska offers. As a result, he has passed on his sense of adventure, humor, creativity and love for Alaska to his children and grandchildren. Ron will be remembered for his talents, sense of humor, willingness to give others a helping hand, and for being fun to live with!
Ron is survived by: His wife Nancy; daughter Terri Knaak and husband Norm, son Tom Lord and wife Kristine, daughter Kathy Boman; granddaughter Carissa Paulson, grandson Colby Lord, granddaughter Ann Lord, and granddaughter Emily Boman; sister Diane Brooks, niece Katrina Yepez, nephew Chris Peterson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Willow with the Father Joseph McGilloway officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home.
