Wasilla resident Rossie L. Stewart, 93, died at Valley Hospital in Palmer on Oct. 22, 2001.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at the First Baptist Church of Wasilla, 900 Leatherleaf Loop, off Bogard Road in Wasilla. Pastor Fred Stroud will officiate.

Entombment will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park in Santa Rosa, Calif., on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Stewart was born Jan. 1, 1908, in Taft, Calif. She attended and graduated from high school in California. She was married to her husband, Marion I. Stewart, shortly after her 18th birthday and resided with him for 65 years in California, until his death on April 12, 1991.

She began her Alaska residency in 1991, when she moved to Palmer. She then resided in Wasilla, and most recently resided with her daughter, Dorothy McCluskey, in the Wasilla area.

Mrs. Stewart spent most of her life as a homemaker, using her spare time to enjoy such hobbies and interests as flower gardening, singing in choirs and playing the violin, which she had done for 85 years. She was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Wasilla.

She is survived by two daughters, Marian Dowdle of Campbell, Calif., and Dorothy McCluskey of Wasilla; grandchildren, Duncan, Mark, Scott, George, Teresa, Bryan, Marilyn, Lindy and A. Charlene; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Doriann, Byron, Geoffery, Brian, Sandy, Ann, Chauna, Christene, Jennifer, James, Daniel, Brianna, Dan and Julie; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends in Alaska and California.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home of Wasilla.
