PALMER — Royal Alaskan Honey owner Alex King is happily selling his fresh and locally sourced goods at Friday Fling each week throughout the summer.
King said that he shows up at other venues but he predominantly sells honey as a Friday Fling vendor. He said there are no bad days and he enjoys having the opportunity to interact with the public.
"I'm content with doing this," King said. "It's always great. Even on bad weather days I still get a lot of traffic."
King said that he has a lot of regulars and new customers that come through his vendor booth.
"It's so rewarding seeing those same faces come back again with a smile just wanting more," King said.
King has been operating his small business for over four years and he's been a beekeeper for over 15 years.
"And it snowballed into doing anything and everything bee related," King said with a laugh.
King regularly offers beekeeping courses throughout the year, offering tips and tricks to beginners.
"I find it so fascinating," King said. "It's a real hive mind, it's a community. They help each other out… Bees are an amazing hobby. The whole family usually loves it,"
Royal Alaskan Honey has numerous clients across the Mat-Su Valley. King said that he sells to local farms who use the honey to heal farm animals' wounds. He said Honey has a lot of natural benefits with a plethora of practical applications.
"Honey has amazing antibiotic properties,"
Raw honey will help manage allergies. A lot of people buy the local honey for that reason," King said.
Looking forward, King hopes to continue growing his business with his loving family.
"I'd love to get my kids more involved. I'm just excited to see where that goes," King said.
