Runners compete in annual Race for Technology

PALMER — Corbyn Jahn and Hallidie Wilt were the top runners during the 2014 Race for Technology in Palmer Saturday.

Jahn posted the top time in the men’s field, finishing the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes and 34 seconds. Wilt led the women’s class, with a time of 18:32.

Jahn was one of three to break the 20-minute mark in the men’s 5K. Austin Kathol (19:32) and Leif Mumma (19:44) finished second and third respectively. Bob Davis (20:11) and Ron Downey (21:45) rounded out the top 5.

Wilt was the first of three women to break 20 minutes. Leslie Varys finished second, with a time of 19:14, and Summer Rozzi-Kathol (19:36) was third. Valerie Martinez (24:12) and Rita Allen (24:44) rounded out the top 5 for the women.

Sonja Kjostad (7:58) and Emily Reich (8:36) were the top runners in the girls’ 1-mile run. Jacob Ross (7:01) and Joseph Walling (7:06) led participants in the boys’ 1-mile.
