Runners partcipate in Paint it Purple race

PALMER — More than 80 participated in the Paint it Purple Run April 18 at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla.

Jason Jenn tackled the 5-kilometer course in the fastest time, completing the run in 25 minutes, 21 seconds. Kaitlyn McGilvray was the runner-up, with a time of 25:48. Brianna McKeel (25:52), Jacque Wood (26:05) and Jack Timm (26:53) rounded out the top five.

Brooklynn Pruett won the girls 1,000-meter run, with a time of 7:19. Dallas Winter used a time of 5:42 to win the boys’ 1,000.

Relay For Life of Mat-Su hosted the inaugural event.

Mat-Su’s 2015 Relay for Life is slated for June 24-25 at the Menard Center.
