A group of runners stampede around a corner at the beginning of the Mat-Su Borough Championships cross-country race at Houston on Wednesday. As opposed to the normal six-race meet, only two races took place on Wednesday. Both girls and boys teams from Colony, Houston, Palmer and Wasilla ran two laps through the back woods at Houston for a quick, 1.9-mile race. The Wasilla girls established a marginal lead to win the race, and on the boys side the Palmer Moose displayed similar results, winning the trophy soundly. (SUSAN MINTURN/For the Frontiersman)
