I have never endorsed a candidate for elected office before but feel now this election is crucial to the path Wasilla takes the next three years.
You have an opportunity to not only serve your community but exercise one of our fundamental constitutional rights and that is the right to enter the polling booth and cast your ballot and vote.
The most pressing situation we are faced with in Wasilla is changing the direction the past administration has created and restoring faith in your local city government.
There is only one candidate for mayor that is raising two beautiful little daughters, has been a successful business man in our community the past 20 years, and has served his country in a time of war. He has held his buddies in their blood-soaked uniforms and was with them when they took their last breaths.
He is the only candidate that was appointed to serve Wasilla in the capacity of chairman on the planning commission by our past Mayor Sarah Palin.
He has defended many people as a defense attorney and protected their constitutional rights. His experience with state law and the code of ethics one must follow to be a member of his profession would have prevented the millions of dollars the city has spent the past few years on legal fees.
He’s open to anyone who wants to ask a question or sit down and chat. I am proud to call him my friend, as are many others.
Verne has the leadership ability and military officer’s training to fill this position with honor. If you believe in justice, fair and open government and want a mayor that will really tell you what he thinks and not mislead you, then please join with me, my family and friends and cast that vote for a proven pillar of the community, Verne Rupright.
He doesn’t just talk the talk, he truly walks the walk. Let’s get Wasilla started again with a real change in leadership. We can take pride in knowing our vote helped to make this possible.
I look forward to working with him as your new Mat-Su Borough assemblyman. Thanks for your vote last Tuesday. Together we can solve the problems that have divided the city and Borough the last six years.
I urge everyone who has ever supported me to support Verne Rupright and our constitutional rights. You can vote early at Wasilla City Hall Oct. 20 through 27 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., also Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or during the special run-off election Tuesday, Oct. 28 at your normal polling location.
