Rupright’s answer doesn’t add up

To the editor:

Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright failed to show up at the mayoral candidate forum at the Wasilla Senior Center Inc. on Thursday. He submitted a letter of excuse, which was read by moderator Mike Chmielewski. However, his excuse of a possible Alaska Public Offices Commission violation was refuted as invalid by both APOC and WASI. Rupright had previously managed to intimidate another senior organization into canceling its forum with such a threat.

It is a sad situation when an incumbent is either afraid or unwilling to speak to a group of seniors and has to resort to such tactics. The question is what is behind this behavior?
