Ryan Loy Mandelin died on Dec. 29, 2002, in Seattle, after a lengthy illness.

Born Feb. 17, 1965, in Seattle, Mr. Mandelin moved to Palmer in 1981 and graduated from Palmer High School in 1984.

He was an active sports enthusiast and participated with Valley youth as a basketball and softball coach.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jessica and Alicia Mandelin of Hawaii; his mother Mari Torell of Delta Junction; his sisters Crystal Wood, Lisa and Dana Mandelin, all former Alaskans; and his father, Loy Mandelin.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery on West Arctic Street in Palmer on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. Reverend Dr. Glenn Key of Anchorage will officiate.
