Sailing club hosts annual Governor’s Cup

BIG LAKE — The Alaska Sailing Club held it’s fourth race series of the summer, the 45th annual Governor’s Cup Regatta, Sept. 3-4 at Big Lake. The Governor’s Cup is one of the longest continuous running sporting events in Alaska.

The regatta consisted of one race on Saturday and three on Sunday. The Saturday afternoon race was in light and variable winds with occasional light rain. The three races on Sunday were in moderate winds under overcast skies. Tim Gould and Jodi Dingle won the small boat class, with close competitors Elayne Hunter and Geoff Wright tying for second place. Doug Tosa won in the big boat class.

Ten boats participated in the small boat class and three in the big boat.
