PALMER -- The Salvation Army Mat-Su Valley Corps has new leaders, and they bring optimism and leadership with them.
Envoys Randy and Kristi Neimeyer took over at the Palmer headquarters in July, and they have been working hard to help establish new Salvation Army's social services here, and continue the services already offered.
They came from Metlakatla, in Southeast Alaska.
"The Valley has been great. People have been very friendly and very supportive of our mission," Randy said. "Everybody is very eager to work with each other, it seems."
The Neimeyers have been helping the food banks, as well as trying to offer new services through the Salvation Army.
With Randy Neimeyer's background as an accountant, he said he would someday like to offer financial counseling as part of the Salvation Army's offerings.
"It's a challenge to sense and meet all of the needs of the community with some of the financial constraints of being a nonprofit agency, but we're trying," Neimeyer said. "We are always looking at ways to raise money for services."
