Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Sandra Ann Tallman, 55, died Jan. 1, 2003, at Valley Hospital in Palmer.
Mrs. Tallman was born Dec. 3, 1947, in Newport, Vt. She became a resident of Alaska in 1984, residing in Wasilla. She was employed with Valley Hospital doing home health care for a number of years. She received numerous awards for health care and community service. Just prior to her death, she was doing volunteer work at the hospital.
She enjoyed shopping, collecting angels and searching for bargains at garage sales. She centered special love and attention on her grandchildren.
Her family said, "Sandy was always happy with a smile on her face. She brought cheer to many clients she visited in her home health profession."
Mrs. Tallman is survived by husband Winston; two sons, Corey and Craig; two daughters-in-law, Kristy and Shelly; six grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, Joe, Codey, Melisa, Craig; sister Linda Prescott; brothers Bobby and Gary Wright; sister-in-law Robin; brother-in-law Bruce; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, most in Vermont.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, on Bogard Road, on Jan. 7, with Rev. Henry Woodall officiating. Her ashes will later be scattered in Vermont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the liver or diabetes foundations, or to a favorite charity.
