SB 21 will cost Alaskans billions

To the editor:

Let’s take a quick look at the effects of Senate Bill 21: $2 billion to the oil companies, Alaska’s population 731,449. That’s a lost income per person in the state of Alaska of $2,734.30. How does it feel to give your entire Permanent Fund Dividend for the next three years to the oil companies?

Another thought, we must start to fund the corrections at a rate that will build sufficient space and fund sufficient corrections personnel to take care of all the students that we are now short changing their education. Or, we could just buy them upon graduation a one-way ticket out of the state, problem solved. Take the first amount and apply it to the second problem, we would have the best-educated population in the United States and much less need for corrections. Oops, I forgot the first amount is a negative. Never mind!
