Wasilla library seeks teens for advisory group
Wasilla Meta-Rose Public Library is organizing a Teen Advisory Group open to youth ages 12 to 18 to help plan parties and events at the library for teens, give input on the best books, movies and music and meet new friends.
The group meets from 4 to 6 p.m., Oct. 20 at the Wasilla Meta-Rose Public Library, 391 N. Main St., and the meeting will include free food.

Little Grapplers Wrestling Camp is Oct. 24-28
Colony Wrestling Booster Club is sponsoring a Little Grapplers Wrestling Camp from 6:30-8 p.m., Oct. 24-28 in Colony High School’s small gym. The week-long introduction to wrestling is for students in kindergarten through fifth-grade and is coached and sponsored by Colony High School Wrestling staff and members. A small informal tournament is planned on the evening of Oct. 28. Cost is $35 for the week. Registration takes place at Colony High School each evening. Colony Middle School drama and music departments will perform “Honk Jr.” at 7 p.m., Nov. 11, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Nov. 12 in the Colony Middle School cafeteria. Honk Jr. is the famous Hans Christianson story of the ugly duckling. It is about a “duck” named Ugly who is picked on by his family and other barnyard animals. After being conned into leaving the farm with the “cat,” he runs into other animals that help him realize that he is a special “duck.” Lots of memorable songs and characters make this a very family friendly show. Lancer Smith Memorial Wrestling Tournament is Nov. 18-19
Palmer High School will host the ninth annual Lancer Smith Memorial Wrestling Tournament from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 18-19 at the high school. The Lancer Smith is one of the largest prep wrestling tournaments in the state with more than 350 wrestlers from 20 teams participating. Palmer is also hosting an eight-team dual competition at 6 p.m., Nov. 17. This tournament is co-sponsored by the Palmer Lions and Moose Boosters Wrestling Club.
