Holiday concerts

set for local schools

A number of schools in the Mat-Su School District are hosting holiday concerts during the next two weeks. The following is a list of events hosted by local schools.

• Today: Palmer Junior Middle choir concert, 7 p.m.

• Today: Wasilla Middle band concert, 7 p.m.

• Today: Houston Middle band concert, 6:30 p.m.

• Today: Larson Elementary third- and fifth-grade holiday concert, 9;10 a.m.

• Today: Meadow Lakes Elementary fourth- and fifth-grade band, guitar, choir concert, 7 p.m.

• Today: Pioneer Peak Elementary band and choir winter concert, 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

• Wednesday: Palmer Junior Middle band concert, 7 p.m.

• Wednesday: Teeland Middle band concert, 7 p.m.

• Thursday: Cottonwood Creek Elementary music assembly, 10 a.m.

• Thursday: Cottonwood Creek Elementary choir program, 7 p.m.

• Thursday: Birchtree Charter winter concert, Colony Middle, 6 p.m.

• Thursday: Trapper Creek Elementary holiday program, 6 p.m.

• Thursday: Wasilla Middle holiday choir concert, 6:30 p.m.

• Friday: Shaw Elementary K-first performance of “AFR,” 2:15 p.m.

• Friday: Pioneer Peak Elementary family caroling, Pioneer Home, 6:30 p.m.

• Dec. 14: Houston Middle band concert, 7 p.m.

• Dec. 14: Teeland Middle band concert, 7 p.m.

• Dec. 14: Knik Elementary band concert, 2 and 7 p.m.

• Dec. 15: Colony Middle talent show, 6:30 p.m.

• Dec. 15: Meadown Lakes Elementary K-first winter holiday concert, 6 p.m.

• Dec. 15: Meadow Lakes Elementary second- and third-grade holiday concert, 7 p.m.

• Dec. 16: Sutton Elementary Christmas program, 2 and 6 p.m.

• Dec. 16: Meadow Lakes Elementary: second- and third-grade holiday concert, 7 p.m.

Bee season in Valley

It’s bee season in the Mat-Su Valley. Local schools are hosting geography and spelling bees in early December.

Palmer Junior Middle School has its geography bee slated for Dec. 10.
