In this day and age, celebrating your 62nd anniversary is a big deal! Kurt and Marianne Schreiber celebrated their 62nd anniversary July 5. They were married July 5, 1952, in Bayrauth, Germany.
They came to the United States in 1956 and moved to Alaska in 1970. They made the journey to Alaska with their four kids: Dieter, Gerald, Angelika, and Henry. They lived in Anchorage for two years while Kurt worked at the Volkswagen Dealership.
In 1972, they moved to Wasilla. Kurt was encouraged to open his own garage and K&M Import Car Service came to be in downtown Wasilla. (Where the parking lot is next to Chimo Guns) He owned that business for 22 years.
They are living history. Ask about the Nazi’s taking over in Germany, the struggle to make a home in a new country, coming to Alaska and building a business and you’ll get a great history lesson. God has blessed them and everyone has been blessed to have them around!
