on to beat North Pole
Jamie Brown hit four free throws in the final 40 seconds to help the Wasilla secure a 64-59 win over the North Pole Patriots at the East T-Bird Classic on Friday.
Megan Stearman led the Warriors with 25 points. Anne Wesser added 13.
Colony girls
defeat Barrow
The Colony Knights survived a defensive battle and defeated the Barrow Whalers 38-28 at the East T-Bird Classic on Friday.
Kelsey Joynt and Haley Hotchkiss each scored eight points to lead the Knights.
The game did not feature a player with double-digits in scoring.
Burgess leads
East over Knights
Maggie Burgess scored 25 points to lead the host East Thunderbirds to a 66-36 win over Colony in the T-Bird Classic on Saturday.
Burgess scored eight points in the second quarter and 10 in the third for East.
Joynt hit five shots from the floor and scored a team-high 13 points for Colony. Hotchkiss added eight.
Ketchikan
edges Colony
Despite a 14-11 Knight advantage in the fourth quarter, the Ketchikan Kings held on to defeat Colony 42-40 at the East T-Bird Classic on Thursday.
Joynt scored 14 to lead the Knights.
Joynt named
all-tourney
Joynt, a Colony junior, was named to the all-tournament team following the finish of the East T-Bird Classic in Anchorage, Saturday.
Chugiak's Kelsey Griffen was named the tourney's most valuable player.
Service boys
defeat Wasilla
The Service Cougars used a 17-13 fourth quarter run to defeat the Wasilla Warriors 54-41 in Anchorage on Saturday.
Matt Crane led the Warriors with 15 points. Brad Hobbs added 14.
