PALMER — A Mat-Su Borough school board member has announced her resignation, citing personal reasons.
Tiffany Scott announced her intention to resign at the Jan. 21 school board meeting. Her husband has agreed to take a new job in Kotzebue as the Chief Information Officer for Maniilaq Association, and the Scott family will be relocating, Scott said in a phone message.
Scott ran unopposed for her seat in the November elections. The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is Feb. 4.
The seat that Scott will vacate has been filled through appointment. Brian Sullivan held it and resigned, then his replacement, Erick Cordero, who went on to win re-election, also resigned.
The school board decides on a process for how to find a replacement each time a vacancy comes up. Usually the process involves soliciting applications and resumes, then interviewing candidates. In the past it has taken about a month to complete.
